We had a huge turn-out for the February meeting. Our second annual Italian Night was again a culinary success. The club provided a feast consisting of lasagna, zitti with chicken and broccoli, rigatoni, salad and garlic bread and rolls. Deserts of biscotti were provided by our chef, Carmine Carlucci.

Show up hungry and you will not be disappointed. Plans have been made for the February meeting to be an Italian Feast. In addition to the food, we will have information about our upcoming events. Hppy New Year

Happy New Year!
We hope your holiday season was festive and relaxing. Most of our Corvettes are snuggled away for the long winter nap and our thoughts are elsewhere. Plans are already being made for activities next year. If you have suggestions, please contact any of the officers either by email, phone or in person. We not only welcome your suggestions but we rely on them.

By now, you should have received your dues renewal letter. Dues are due in January. Please renew early. And also, please fill out the short survey at the bottom of the letter and return it with your check.

Everyone that attended Eileen and Bill Casey’s dinner at the 99 in Braintree had a wonderful time. It was a perfect evening of talk and eat, the two things members do very well. Thank you Eileen and Bill!

Monthly Meeting

Monthly Meeting
Mark your calendars for September 25th. We return to the Weymouth Elks at 7:00. We will be having Marylou's coffee and snacks. There are a number of items on the agenda. September is the month when we open the floor to nominations for officers. We encourage all members to consider running for office.

The Recognition Dinner will be held at the Monponsett Inn in Halifax in November 15, 2008. It will be a buffet and the menu will be announced at the next meeting. The cost is $35.00/couple so bring your checkbook.

We are planning a Fall Foliage Cruise with a destination of Lakeville to see the Hallamore Clydesdales. This should be a very scenic cruise and one to enjoy our cars and camaraderie. The proposed dates are Oct. 5 with a rain date of Oct. 12. We need someone to lead the event and we are looking for a volunteer.

Carol Santacross has planned another great Bug Juice Rally. The event is scheduled for Oct. 19 and we'll meet at 10 AM at the Totem Pole Exit 5 off Rt 3 south in the parking lot behind MacDonald's in the rest area.  Drivers and navigators meeting at 10:15, first car out at 10:30 Sharp!. We will have more information at the meeting. You can call her at 781 934-6455. Please let her know if you plan to attend so she can print sufficient directions and she also needs a head count for the restaurant. Carol will give full details at the meeting.

Our annual Schooner Brunch is being lead again by Tom Hayes on Oct 26. Cars and food?  There's a novel idea.  Can't wait!  More details at the meeting.

July Meeting–it's a cookout!

The July 31st meeting will be held at Bill and Eileen Casey's home in Norwell. There is plenty of parking so bring your Corvette along with your appetite. Food will be provided, BYOB. Contact Eileen by phone or email if you are coming. We need to get a count so we do not run out of food. 781-659-1513/email here. In case of rain, the meeting will be held at the Elks as usual.

Rich Bertrand

Rich Bertrand
South Shore Corvette Club stepped up and did the Club proud with the turnout for our fallen comrade, Rich Bertrand's, wake and funeral. Our members really proved just how our club rises to each occasion. Rich's wife and family were overwhelmed when all the blue SSCC shirts arrived at the wake. They had no idea of how well liked Rich was with our members, and they constantly thanked us for coming.  On the day of Rich's funeral, 10 of our club Corvettes arrived to escort Rich to the church. It was very moving to see Rich's "Ruby Elaine" at the front of the line and the other 10 Corvettes following. Great job, SSCC.
