50th Anniversary Shake Down Cruise
Jim Johnson and Carol Santacross, longtime SSCC members planned a Provincetown Shake Down Cruise. In years past it was a tradition, so for the club's 50th anniversary they planned the day and invited other clubs to help celebrate the club's milestone.
Nearly 70 corvettes joined us from Weymouth to Hyannis. The parade kept growing and everyone along our route showed interest. The weather became brighter as we headed to the cape and our stops turned into happy conversations between clubs.
There were clubs from Rhode Island, Connecticut and the Eastern Mass Corvette Club and probably some I missed.
JIm Johnson and Carol Santacross were our leaders and with all those corvettes we needed them. Their preparations must have been very time consuming and we all appreciate their efforts.
Our drive through the center of Provincetown created quite a stir. People were taking pictures, waiving and smiles as we drove down through the narrow street. Corvettes make people smile and we really made a lot of peoples day.
There was only one glitch and that was the lack of parking at the restaurant. Jim was trying to get our last cars a safe space but Roy and some others are very protective of their Vettes. We decided to move on.
So my journal ends at the restaurant. We were sorry to miss the luncheon but we decided to find a less crowded spot.
All in all the day was perfect for our 50th year shake down celebration. We thank Jim and Carol and all who attended the event. One of their features were the easy to read directions. We look forward to all the pictures taken by Bill Wenzel on the club's web site.

Joe Amante Run
17/04/12 18:45
Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the first and very important Joe Amante Run to the cape. This entry will be from Roy's observations. The event was well represented with 28 corvettes and members.Members gathered at the Rockland Park n Ride and while waiting for directions from Russ Erickson, Terry and Sue drove in but not in Terry's vette. President Terry got a call from Carmine and said that he could not attend so he wanted Terry and Sue to represent him by driving his Torch Red ZR1. They sure looked great in that Vette.
Russ and Judy who hosted the event for many years suggested renaming the event the Joe Amante Run for our club officer who died last year. It was a special day with Joe's wife Rita in attendance. After two stops one at theTotem Pole where we met more SSCC members and second stop at exit 6 on Route 6 where the Saccos and the Cains joined us. It was off to to the water front restaurant Brax"s Landing in Harwichport. The weather was great and all enjoyed a delicious brunch. No one went home hungary.Like all SSCC events, great food and conversation caps the event. Thank you Russ and Judy for a great cruise and the official beginning of the 2012 SSCC season. You can view photos of the event here.

Soup Party

Mal's Soup Party February 25, 2012
About 25 members and guests arrived with homemade soups, chowders and desserts to savor on a cold winter's night.
Every room in the house was so inviting and comfortable. The kitchen, of course, was the heart of the party.
We all had fun trying the hearty soups and chowders. Food and happy chatter always makes for a great Corvette Club function.
New members joined us and hopefully more will join us next year. Thank you Mal for hosting another successful Soup Party.

Recignition Dinner
11/12/11 13:19
Over 100 members and guests filled the function room at the Fireside Grill. Mal and Elaine once again worked so hard to make sure every detail was perfect . Lovely wine centerpieces, two large baskets for a raffle and the 50/50 crew worked the room and a lucky person went home with $202. and that lucky person was Jerry Martin. Dwight Burns and Doug Buchanan each won a basket.
After a delicious dinner President Terry and Vice President Steve began the recognition segment. All of the club's sponsors were recognized. Twenty year or more members were recognized. Activities and food pantry volunteers were given certificates for their contributions. The cruise night crew were honored for their devotion.
President Terry recognized Rita Amante and her family and Bill Wenzel presented portraits of Joe and they were very grateful. An annual presidential award in Joe Amante's name started by President Terry would be awarded to members committed to the club activities and contributing time and talent on a regular basis. Roy and I were totally shocked when Terry presented us with the first award. We love this club and hope to live up to this award in the club's 50th year in 2012 and beyond.
The evening ended with the centerpiece giveaway. The winners were who owned the oldest corvette at each table. Mal and Elaine are so clever.
Best regards,
Judy

Quincy Christmas Parade

2011 Quincy Christmas Parade
Sunday November 27, 2011
Twenty-two Corvettes met at Building #19 and drove to the parade's stagingg area.. The weather was warm and perfect for a long parade. Carmine Carlucci treated everyone to the largest Shrimp I've ever seen. Someone said they were mini lobsters. Also, the Carlucii family vino was given to each car by Carmine and his dad. Thank you Carmine and family.
Everyone flew their flags proudly and many decorated their cars with holiday stuffed animals. Dwight and Rosemarie drove with three large Christmas animals. Santa hats were the uniform of the day. The parade went smoothly and by the end my hand was hurting from all the waving. Corvettes really bring joy to everyone and that is what we like to see. Smiles from the crowd is what it's all about.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays
Best regards,
Judy
