Recignition Dinner

Over 100 members and guests filled the function room at the Fireside Grill. Mal and Elaine once again worked so hard to make sure every detail was perfect . Lovely wine centerpieces, two large baskets for a raffle and the 50/50 crew worked the room and a lucky person went home with $202. and that lucky person was Jerry Martin. Dwight Burns and Doug Buchanan each won a basket.

After a delicious dinner President Terry and Vice President Steve began the recognition segment. All of the club's sponsors were recognized. Twenty year or more members were recognized. Activities and food pantry volunteers were given certificates for their contributions. The cruise night crew were honored for their devotion.

President Terry recognized Rita Amante and her family and Bill Wenzel presented portraits of Joe and they were very grateful. An annual presidential award in Joe Amante's name started by President Terry would be awarded to members committed to the club activities and contributing time and talent on a regular basis. Roy and I were totally shocked when Terry presented us with the first award. We love this club and hope to live up to this award in the club's 50th year in 2012 and beyond.

The evening ended with the centerpiece giveaway. The winners were who owned the oldest corvette at each table. Mal and Elaine are so clever.

Best regards,
Judy

Quincy Christmas Parade

2011 Quincy Christmas Parade
Sunday November 27, 2011

Twenty-two Corvettes met at Building #19 and drove to the parade's stagingg area.. The weather was warm and perfect for a long parade. Carmine Carlucci treated everyone to the largest Shrimp I've ever seen. Someone said they were mini lobsters. Also, the Carlucii family vino was given to each car by Carmine and his dad. Thank you Carmine and family.

Everyone flew their flags proudly and many decorated their cars with holiday stuffed animals. Dwight and Rosemarie drove with three large Christmas animals. Santa hats were the uniform of the day. The parade went smoothly and by the end my hand was hurting from all the waving. Corvettes really bring joy to everyone and that is what we like to see. Smiles from the crowd is what it's all about.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays

Best regards,
Judy

Annual Garage Tour

Congratulations to Carol Santacross for another outstanding Garage Tour. Some people love house tours, garden tours and historical tours, the SSCC members love garage tours, it's who we are.

Thankfully there are many homes with special places to keep and work on our precious corvettes and other classic cars. For the past three years Carol has rallied our club members to show off their spaces which are rarely seen by outsiders. Some people are hesitant at first but Carol knows how to charm the best out of people. Read More...

Fall Getaway

Judy’s Journal
New Hampshire Weekend Sept. 9-09-11 thru 9-11-2011
Total attendees 29 and 15 corvettes

Rain, rain go away the SSCC want to play. Many days of rain gave way to sunshine on Friday 9/9/11. We were off to New Hampshire's White Mountains. Elaine and Mal's plans were underway.

We left Bldg. #19 at 10:15 AM with Roy and I agreeing to lead until lunch time. We were able to cruise through Boston without too much traffic and once on Route 93 we cruised along easily. We didn't have a time limit but we were all anxious to reach our destination. The day was so beautiful we could have driven all day. We did get attention driving up 93 with our 13 car caravan.

Lucky Dawg Photo Shoot

Judy's Journal

Sunday August 21, 2011

SSCC members and guests met at the Hanover Mall for another event. There were 15 Corvettes and 25 members and guests.
Jim Johnson led us through country roads to our destination the Lucky Dawg restaurant. The Lucky Dawg sits upon the edge of a scenic pond which made a perfect back drop for the photo shoot.. Bill Wenzel, our in house photographer positioned each Corvette for the best picture. This was a really fun time as we all had turns posing with our cars. It took only about an hour and everyone was pleased with the results.

After the photo shoot we were all seated in the restaurant. We were given a choice of Prime Rib, made especially for us, and many other pub menu choices. My burger was terrific and I would recommend the restaurant to everyone. Roy and I will certainly return and given the comments others will as well. SSCC member always luck out with food after our activities. Today was no exception.

Thank you Jim and the Lucky Dawg for the wonderful setting and food, and to Bill for the professional photos of our Corvettes. We are very lucky to belong to such a great club.

Garden Party, 2011 Version

Judy’s Journal
July 24, 2011

Away we go again, this time is for Jim Johnson's garden party and scenic cruise. We didn't let a few sprinkles hold us back. About 35 members and over 20 cars met at the Rockland Park and Ride. After meeting and greeting, Jim gave all the passengers directions for the planned cruise.  Steve stayed back and he and Jim had the walkie-talkie so communications went fairly well until near the end. We lost the back end of the caravan for a few minutes. Everyone did find Jim's and he and a helper turned out another delicious meal. We had plenty of salads and desserts to accompany Jim's hamburgers, hot dogs and steak tips so no one could say they left hungry.

The weather stayed friendly the whole time and the sun came out after we ate so everyone could socialize in comfort because the high humidity was swept away with a cold front.

Jim's gardens were just spectacular and he proudly took many on a tour around the large property.  Everyone admired his picture perfect home and gardens. Well we closed the book on another SSCC annual event and now it's on to the next whatever it maybe.  There is certainly no end to our activity agenda.

Thank you Jim for hosting your event and we look forward to next year.

Pool Party

Judy’s Journal
July 17, 2011

Steve and Melissa once again invited all the SSCC members to their pool and garden party. About 25 of us arrived in our Corvettes to find Steve had hired a neighbor teenager to watch our precious cars. That was good thinking.

Steve’s son Matt made strawberry daiquiris for all to enjoy. I watched him make a batch and he really knows how to bartend. The pool was clear as a bell and the gardens were just beautiful. Sitting around the pool made for a great relaxing atmosphere.

After awhile the main attraction became a circle of our members floating in the pool, chatting away. It was great to see them all having fun.

Time flies when were having fun and before long the food appeared. The hot and cold buffet covered everyone’s taste. After the all you can eat buffet came the dessert table Elaine had made delicious compote and other desserts completed the feast.

The pool beckoned for some again and others just enjoyed the company. Roy and I had to leave about 5:00PM but who knows when the party ended because no one left before us. This was a great way to spend a summer day in July.

Every year this party gets better and better. So if you see it on the calendar for next summer pencil it in and join us. Steve and Melissa are great hosts. Thank you for a fun day.

Texas BAR-B-Q

About 30 or more members and guests were treated in high style by Carmine Carlucci, Head Chef and SSCC member, for the annual Texas BAR B-Q at the Mill Wharf Restaurant in Scituate. We were seated on the back deck to eat, drink, be merry, watch a beautiful sunset and gaze at the boat traffic passing by.

Course after course poured out of the kitchen served by Carmine's great staff. The menu was to long to list but the rum cake desert was a decadent finale.
Carmine served the cake and then joined us for the end of the meal. What a special evening it was. Thank you Carmine for another memorable summer event for our SSCC members.

Father's Day at the Collings Foundation

June 19th 2011 Father's Day at the Collings Foundation

It was a picture perfect day as we began our cruise to Stow Ma. west of Boston. About 16 Corvettes and other guests set out from Building 19, then a stop in Dedham where we met some other members. We then headed north for a great adventure. For those who had not been before we knew they were in for a great surprise and more.

Flag Day Parade

Saturday, June 8th was a busy day for the SSCC. There was the Paul Masse Corvette Day and the traditional Qunicy Flag Day Parade. The club managed to have a good
showing at the parade of flags.

As usual we had a great welcome from a large crowd of flag waiving people. The weather was great and all the the corvettes looked great flying the colors.
Please join us for our next parade scheduled for June 25th in Braintree. As always the Corvettes are the highlight of every parade. Everyone loves the Corvettes.
Remember in our own way we provide therapy for many as well as ourselves.

Weymouth Memorial Day Parade

Memorial Day Parade
May30, 2011
Twenty-one patriotic corvettes led by President Terry participated in the Weymouth Memorial Day parade. We are always the highlight of this town’s parade. Applause was loud from all of the viewers especially the little boys. Some even buy them when they grow up. It is really fun to see all the enthusiasm from the people. The weather was perfect and the mayor called to us saying it was much better weather than last weeks cultural event. Everyone thanked us for coming and many shouted see you next parade.

Weymouth Arts and Cultural Celebration

Weymouth Arts and Cultural Celebration

Weymouth Arts Festival 004The SSCC was invited to participate in the Weymouth Arts and Cultural event on May 22, 2011 held at the Weymouth Town Hall. We were escorted by the Weymouth Police and made a grand entrance. The corvettes were parked around the perimeter of the amphitheatre.

The weather was cold, damp and windy but we met our commitment with smiles and appetites. Some members even help set up the Margarita Booth. Some people will do anything for a Margarita. The main beverage missing was hot coffee.

About 1:28 PM we did get a glimpse of the sun. We all smiled but as soon as we looked up it disappeared for the rest of our time there.

The Mayor Sue Kay had a group picture with us and thanked us for coming. She also promised us to have hot coffee next year,

The following club members attended:
President Terry and Sue Partridge
Vice Pres. Steve and Melissa Boyajian
Secretary Elaine and Alan Kemp
Dwight and Rosemarie Burns
