We’re off to the Green Mountain State
A weekend getaway has been planned by South Shore Corvette Club members Roy and Judy Charron. The destination is Bennington, VT the home of Hemmings Motor News. We will be leaving Weymouth on Friday, June 4 and returning Sunday, June 6, 2010.

Our tour guides, Roy and Judy, have already made a reconnaissance mission to Bennington and have mapped out the route, the lodging and most important, the restaurants. There is a block of rooms available at the Paradise Inn and the rates are very reasonable. Other lodging is available and many restaurants are near by. There is a variety of places to visit and sights to see.

Hemmings Motor News was founded by Ernest Hemmings in Quincy, Illinois, in 1954. The first issue consisted of four pages, and 500 copies were sold at 50 cents per copy. Today, Hemmings Motor News employs a staff of 100 people at its World Headquarters in Bennington, Vermont. This location, which is just 35 miles east of Albany, New York, is also home to their old-fashioned Sunoco filling station, Car Lover's store, and a vehicle display which features over 25 automotive legends from the past.

There are many places to visit in and around Bennington incuding the Bennington Center for the Arts. The Bennington Center for the Arts brings world-class fine art, history and theatre to the residents and visitors of Southwestern Vermont.
