Cruise to Ron's Restorations in Fitchburg, MA–May
17th
On
Saturday, May17th, the SSCC will cruise to the famous
Ron's Restorations in Fitchburg, MA. Ron Bunnell has
more than 40 years of Corvette expertise. Ron has
been in the professional restoration business since
1982. His shop has specialized in "Corvettes Only"
for the last 20 years and with the existing staff
they have over 50 years of combined Corvette
experience.
Starting
his business with a passion for quality work
and a desire to maintain true originality on
Corvettes, Ron is committed to continue this
attention to detail and workmanship in the
years to come.
We will be meeting at the Building 19 parking lot
in Weymouth (on Route 18) at 8:00 am. Our first
stop will be at Joe's American Bar and Grill on
Route 1A in Dedham. This will be a quick "stop and
go" to pick up members that live closer to this
point. We should arrive at Joe's between 8:45 and
9:00 am. We will then proceed out to Ron's. Upon
arriving, Ron will have coffee waiting. We will
then get a tour of his facility. After the tour,
Ron will be providing a Pizza Lunch for our
members.

“Boys & Girls Club” of Marshfield Display and Car
Wash Tour
If you liked “The Garage Tour,” you're gonna love
the Car Wash Tour!
Have you
ever wondered how all that stuff works at the
automatic car wash? Well, here's your chance to
find out while helping with a worthy cause.
Our meeting location is the Standish Village Plaza
on Route 139 Pembroke (on the Marshfield line, next
to the Burger King) at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May
18th. We will leave at 9:45 and then cruise to the
Marshfield Car Wash for a display to benefit the
Boys & Girls Club. They need a new
defibrillator for their clubhouse.
The club will be given a private walking tour of
the new “state of the art” car wash, see what goes
on behind the scenes… the tunnel, the computers and
all the new technology by owner Paul Vercollone and
his son Nick, who is also one of the directors at
the Boys & Girls Club. There will be
refreshments and a raffle for Red Sox tickets and
other items.
At 1:00
p.m. we’ll be cruising to Jim Johnson’s brother’s
restaurant, The Lucky Dog, in Pembroke for ice
cream and more food if necessary. This will be a
fun day!
We
would like to have 20-25 cars if possible.
Also the
SSCC will be advertised on WATD 95.9 for this
event.

New Cruise Night Location
The big
news at last month's meeting was a change of venue
for our summer cruise night. After three years at the
Abington Walmart, we moved to the Monponsett Inn.
Monday, May 12 was our "Opening Day" and although it
was a bit cool, we had no rain. Most of the officers,
many members and a number of friends from our old
locations were present for the inauguration.
Joe
Amante deserves a huge thank you for putting
this together in record time. And after being
at the Monponsett Inn for opening night,
everyone was very happy with the location, the
facilities and the prospect of a summer in an
idyllic location. The parking lot provides a
more compact layout making the it easier to
mingle with other owners and members. We have
more than an adequate number of parking
spaces. Another benefit of the layout is the
ability to hear the music and announcements.
One of the best attractions is the presence of
the Inn. It is a wonderful restaurant and bar,
with a full menu and very reasonable prices.
If you missed us on the 12th, try to get down
next Monday.
Not quite sure how to get there? Click

Welcome new members
We
welcomed four new members into the club, Ron McCray,
Kenyon Thompson, Ivan Esposito and Bill
O'Neil.
Attendance Raffle
If you
haven't been to the March or April meetings, we have
started a new "Attendance Raffle." The rules are
simple. At Every monthly meeting and every Cruise
Night, we will draw a name from the complete member
roster. If you are present and you have signed in and
paid $1.00 you will win the pot. If the name pulled
is of a member that is neither present or signed in,
the total amount rolls over to the next event. Be
sure to show up and sign in. The pot is growing!
Last Month's Trivia Question
Of
what significance is the number 6939 in Corvette
history?
We
have a WINNER!!
Steve Bradford correctly answered that there were
only 6939 ZR-1s produced from 1990 until 1995. For
those who like statistics, 1990 saw 3049 built. In
1991 the number dropped to 2044. 1992 had only 502
ZR-1s built and the three years, 1993-1995 each had
448 ZR-1s hit the road. The last ZR-1, 1995 #448
sits in the National Corvette Museum in Bowling
Green, KY.
Steve won a beautiful ZR-1 poster for his correct
answer. Be sure to check this month's Trivia
Question in the sidebar to the right.
If
you have just happened upon our site, click on in and take
a look around and, if you're in the neighborhood, come and
visit. On Monday evenings from 5:00 until dusk, May thru
October, you can find us in Halifax at our weekly Cruise
Night at the Monponsett Inn, 550 Monponsett Road (Route
58). Or drop in at one of our monthly meetings at the
Weymouth Elks on Route 53. We meet the last Thursday of
each month, January thru October. We love to meet fellow
'Vette enthusiasts!
