New Cruise Night Location

The big news at last month's meeting was a change of venue for our summer cruise night. After three years at the Abington Walmart, we are moving to the Monponsett Inn. Walmart asked the club to donate to their charity. The amount they were looking for far exceeds the annual revenues of the club. An emergency officers meeting was called to try to find a venue that had adequate and safe parking, bathroom facilities, electrical power for the DJ and finally, access to food and drink.
We considered many local business and restaurants. Joe Amante made contact with the Monponsett Inn and not only would they permit us to use their parking lot, but they welcomed us with open arms. The owner is a Vette owner!
Please join us on our kick-off night, May 12. We would like to fill the parking lot. And one of the great benefits of the Monponsett Inn is a great menu and beautiful setting. Not quite sure how to get there? Click

“Boys & Girls Club” of Marshfield Display and
Car Wash Tour

If you liked “The Garage Tour,” you're gonna love the Car Wash Tour!
Have you ever wondered how all that stuff works at the automatic car wash? Well, here's your chance to find out while helping with a worthy cause.
Our meeting location is the Standish Village Plaza on Route 139 Pembroke (on the Marshfield line, next to the Burger King) at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 18th. We will leave at 9:45 and then cruise to the Marshfield Car Wash for a display to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. They need a new defibrillator for their clubhouse.
The club will be given a private walking tour of the new “state of the art” car wash, see what goes on behind the scenes… the tunnel, the computers and all the new technology by owner Paul Vercollone and his son Nick, who is also one of the directors at the Boys & Girls Club. There will be refreshments and a raffle for Red Sox tickets and other items.

At 1:00 p.m. we’ll be cruising to Jim Johnson’s brother’s restaurant, The Lucky Dog, in Pembroke for ice cream and more food if necessary. This will be a fun day!
We would like to have 20-25 cars if possible. Also the SSCC will be advertised on WATD 95.9 for this event.

New Members

We welcomed three new members into the club, Ron McCray, Kenyon Thompson and Bill O'Neil.

Attendance Raffle
If you haven't been to the March or April meetings, we have started a new "Attendance Raffle." The rules are simple. At every monthly meeting and every Cruise Night, we will draw a name from the complete member roster. If you are present and you have signed in and paid $1.00 you will win the pot. If the name pulled is of a member that is neither present or signed in, the total amount rolls over to the next event. Be sure to show up and sign in. The pot is growing!

Last Month's Trivia Question
Of what significance is the number 6939 in Corvette history?

We have a WINNER!! Steve Bradford correctly answered that there were only 6939 ZR-1s produced from 1990 until 1995. For those who like statistics, 1990 saw 3049 built. In 1991 the number dropped to 2044. 1992 had only 502 ZR-1s built and the three years, 1993-1995 each had 448 ZR-1s hit the road. The last ZR-1, 1995 #448 sits in the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.
Steve won a beautiful ZR-1 poster for his correct answer. Be sure to check this month's Trivia Question in the sidebar to the right.
